Overview

Located approximately 12 miles south of Milton and 13 miles north of Gulf Breeze, Garcon Point North is an ideal destination for hikers seeking a short trip through a scenic location filled with pitcher plants, wiregrass, and as many as 13 rare or endangered species of plants and wildlife.

Among the highlights for nature lovers is the sight of the rare white-topped pitcher plant.

The District conducts prescribed burns on this parcel to protect the water resources in the area and help stimulate the growth of a natural habitat. The prescribed burns have created an ideal environment for toothache grass and wiregrass.

The District has cut out two hiking trails – 1.2 and 1.5 miles long – for visitors to Garcon Point.

Parking for the trailhead at Garcon Point North is located off Route 191 between Escambia and Blackwater bays on Avalon Boulevard Frontage Road/Garcon Point Road.
